out of sight...

For many people, the expression "out of sight, out of mind" creates a vacuum of emptiness and silence. They find comfort from their sorrow by emotional distance, by the avoidance of thought. The power of internal distraction helps them claim to heal their hearts by no longer thinking about what has happened.

For others, the expression "

absence makes the heart grow fonder" has become their new mantra. They are continually thinking, reaching, and speaking of those who are no longer present in their world. Their dialogue constantly seeks to grasp the past, holding on to what once was. They will not surrender to the moving changes, rather they try to recreate the past on a daily basis. They feel it helps their soul heal, their wounds not to ache so often.
